what are you reading wednesday?
Apr. 1st, 2020 10:43 amWhat have you finished reading?
The Banks by Roxane Gay (author), Ming Doyle (artist) - Surprisingly this had a happy ending. at least happy enough that no one died or went to jail. the happiest ending would be if billionares ceased to exist or something.
Robot Dreams by Sara Varon (Author, Illustrator) - A quick comic, with no words, about a dog and robot friends. they go to the beach and the robot rusts. dog abandons his friend. its incredibly bittersweet.
The Wilds by Vita Ayala (Author), Danny Lore (Editor), Emily Pearson (Artist) - A plague has collapsed society! I didnt know that was what this one was about. But its fungal and turns you into a sort of half human half plant creature so its pretty? this comic is v queer and black, which i LOVE, but the transitions between panels were choppy so I really had to pay attention to what was going on. Still, timely, and good.
The Sheriff of Babylon Vol. 1: Bang. Bang. Bang. and Vol. 2: Pow. Pow. Pow. by Tom King (Author), Mitch Gerads (Illustrator) - murder mystery during the iraq war and america is forever the bad guy or at least fuckin stuff up. this was frustrating and depressing the whole time, but i dont think its the comic's fault. its an incredibly frustrating story. one american seems to be trying to do the right thing, but ole uncle sam won't have any of that. It just soured my mood. i need something lighter.
Sailor Moon Eternal Edition 6 by Naoko Takeuchi (Author) - the champion of love and justice. friendship always wins the day. oh my god inject this shit into my veins. pretty art, long legs, magical powers that make everything okay. yes yes yes. This finishes up the Death Busters arc and has the Luna becomes a human story which was really sweet.

Sailor Moon Eternal Edition 7 by Naoko Takeuchi (Author) - continuing the trend of all problems being solved by love and friendship. this is the pegasus arc. This is the one season i haven't re-watched in japanese (with subtitles(I really aught to do that)) so this should be extra new and good.
