The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage (Book of Dust, Volume 1) by Philip Pullman (Author) - a huge flood hits the area, and malcolm rescues lyra from the nunnery before the building collapses. malcolm also saves alice, a coworker and lyra's caretaker. they are determined to sail down to london to find lord asriel because they think he would be a safe person for lyra. On the way they meet this guy who physically abuses his daemon, and its honestly p disturbing. Alice, who may or may not have been abused by him, stabs him and hopefully he is dead. They were rescued by some folks, but a young boy is in that snitch-ass alexander group and lyra gets captured and taken to a different nunnery. malcolm is going to go and try to rescue her.
