Undiscovered Country #1 by Charles Soule (Author), Scott Snyder (Author) - I... there is a lot happening here, and I couldn't really follow it. I couldn't tell if it was my depression-induced attention span or what. We'll see if Z has the same problem when he reads it or not.
A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood - I wanted a book-book to bring on vacation. This is a book written in the 60s about a gay man whose partner had died. Its a very sympathetic take, as the author was a huge proponent of LGBTQ+ rights. His grief, longing, and goings on. I absolutely hated the ending. Apparently there is a movie.
Family Tree Volume 1: Sapling Paperback by Jeff Lemire (Author), Phil Hester (Artist) - Reading this comic makes me think it wasnt an attention span issue with Undiscovered Country. Lemire, amazing as always, is writing 1000 comics all at once and I love all of them. They're always, thematically, about family but not in a boring sense. This story is about a girl who is turning into a tree. She sees and meets with her father who is dead; it seems he died becoming a tree as well. People want to murder the tree girl, so the family, mom and brother and estranged grandpa are trying to protect the girl.

Bitter Root Volume 1: Family Business by David F. Walker (Author), Chuck Brown (Author), Sanford Greene (Artist) - This is a family of Black demon hunters and it is amazing. I'm only just a little ways in, but I'm immediately in love. It takes place in the 20s, I believe? The aesthetic is v steam punk, but not in the boring unimaginative way. Thus far a teenager is trying to learn to hunt but his counsin, a badass named Blink, is good at it, but since she's a girl shes forced to take a healing role. Its quite obvious those two should switch jobs. They also are killing the KKK, i think, so this isn't the typical demons = racists fare, I don't think. We'll see.
