What have you finished reading?

Avatar: The Last Airbender--Imbalance by Faith Erin Hicks (Author), Bryan Konietzko (Author), Michael Dante DiMartino (Author), Peter Wartman (Illustrator), Ryan Hill (Illustrator) - So theyre trying to lay down the base that explains the history between the benders and equalists in Korra. This book allows Sokka to shine, and it makes me happy. Still, the story feels... unoriginal, although its the benders doing most of the oppressing and you see aang struggle with that.

The Legend of Korra: Ruins of the Empire Part Three – by Michael Dante DiMartino (Author), Michelle Wong (Illustrator), Killian Ng (Illustrator) - I hated this arc. Its a Kuvira redemption arc ON TOP OF using a tired trope (brainwashing), so I wasn't in a rush to finish this arc. A good redemption arc is good (see: Zuko) but Kuvira's redemption felt forced... and it felt like everyone forgot all the evil she did, except for Asami, and even Asami kinda forgave Kuvira? Thanks, I hate it.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Team Avatar Tales – by Gene Luen Yang (Author), Dave Scheidt (Author), Sara Goetter (Author), Ron Koertge (Author), Faith Erin Hicks (Illustrator) - Just a bunch of cute shorts. Lots and lots of Suki, which is great, since i feel like a lot of folks exclude her from the gaang.

Avatar: The Last Airbender--Katara and the Pirate's Silver by Faith Erin Hicks (Author), Peter Wartman (Illustrator), Adele Matera (Illustrator) - As much as I wish I wasn't, Katara and I have a lot in common. This is Katara using what a lot of folks perceive as her flaws (empathy, compassion) as resources to help her when she falls off of Appa after being attacked by the fire nation (i think this story is between book 2 and 3? Something like that). Anyway, it was kind of the story I needed, since I'm wrestling with being seen as too soft lately.

What are you reading?

Crowded Volume 2 Paperback – by Christopher Sebela (Author), Ro Stein (Artist), Ted Brandt (Artist) - The premise of this is in the not too distant future, we have apps to hire hits on people, and apps to hire someone to protect you. Charlie has a 2 million dollar hit on her, its never been this high, so it causes a lot of chaos, and shes being coy about why it might be that much. Vita is hired to protect her. They're kinda gay for each other, which was unexpected but delightful. It sums up a techbro wasteland pretty well.
