What have you given up on reading?

Written in the Stars: A Novel by Alexandria Bellefleur (Author) - This is the gay shop book of the month. And its romance fluff. I was OK with that, but the prose sucks, the plot is predictable, and it is dragged out to high hell. I feel like im watching WWE with how it "reminds" me about things just written a few pages back. At any rate, I skimmed the story afterwards. It hit all the beat points I expected. Its very much lesbian uptight girl needs manic pixie girl to save her. The sex scene wasnt even all that great. A good editor could have made this a 100 page jaunt instead of a 400 page slog.

What have you finished reading?

Beasts of Burden: Neighborhood Watch by Evan Dorkin (Author), Sarah Dyer (Author), Mike Mignola (Author), Jill Thompson (Illustrator), Benjamin Dewey (Illustrator) - Nothing else to really say. Good comic.

What are you currently reading?

Are You My Mother?: A Comic Drama by Alison Bechdel (Author) - Love Bechdel, but this relies on so much psycho-babble that people just believe at face value. Too pro-freudian for me to be comfortable. I hope this book ends in her realizing that looking inward this far without questioning anything is kind of bad for your brain health...
