Sorry, I missed last week.
Mostly the last week has been consumed by the new cat. Let me catch up.
I failed the dev test. Apparently everyone always fails. multiple times. I was pretty discouraged. I spent all of last week just sort of ignoring it. This week I'm hitting the books again, and Imma write stuff out and make my own tests and such. I'll do better next time. Passing grade is 69% and I had a 68.33% and I'm still mad about it.
Last weekend, the in-laws came back from Taiwan or whatever. They had been gone for 7 months, but had to unexpectedly fly back early because of visa issues in China. So, they stayed last minute. But they also had 7 months of shit. The house was just so crazy all weekend because there was stuff EVERYWHERE. Also dad in law used my bag-full-of-bags under the sink as trash? idk why? I literally have trash a few feet over in a proper can. plastic bags are banned in austin, so I'm a little discouraged that what few "contraband" bags i had are now gone.
At any rate, Shane came down that weekend too. Basically they flew into Austin, and Shane drove them back to Nac.
Don't get me wrong, it was nice to see them, but I felt utterly taken over, and it was last minute so I was just really overwhelmed.
They came in Friday, and Saturaday Z had to work at the brewery, so I entertained them. We went to Austin Beerworks for a crayfish boil and flea market. From there we checked out some dollar stores and picked up Z, met Shane at the brewery, and then went back to our place.
Sunday we went down to San Antonio. First we went to weathered souls and then we went to South Texas Persian Rescue to get Blue.
Blue is very sweet and very small. I was worried he would meow the whole car ride home, but he only meowed a couple times. So chill!!
The drive home was really long. And you could tell everyone was cramped and antsy. Traffic was bad and I was really happy when we got home.
When we got home, Skittles didnt even realise there was a second cat... she was more interested in the chicken express we brought home. Blue was in the bedroom. Skittles in the living room. It wasn't till later in the evening Skittles saw through a crack in the door that Blue was there.
That night Shane and the parents decided to go walking around downtown, but Z and I stayed home to see how the cats got on. we probably didnt need to, but it felt nice to decompress. We were both really high strung about Blue coming and wanting it to go well.
At any rate, Monday Shane and the parents scoot out and all week we mostly focused on the cats. Honestly, their introduction has gone swimmingly and they're already co-habilitating. On Tuesday or Wednesday I raised the curtain so they could see each other on the sides of the door. Come Friday Blue had gotten out and we decided to just watch and see what would happen.
Skittles has hissed at him, but Blue doesn't give a fuck. Skittles hasn't batted at him. And they're becoming more comfortable with each other. Even last weekend I was worried I was causing Skittles undue stress, but she has chilled out today. She hissed this morning, but hasn't hissed since. Yesterday they sat on laps on the couch near each other.
Almost caught up here.
This weekend was real heckin good. Friday I dont think Z and I did anything. And Saturday, Z did tours at the brewery, so we got sushi for lunch and I hung out at the brewery for a few hours. His dad's friend from nac, larry, was there, so it was cool to hang out wit him and his wife and kid. After the brewery, we went home. Osk told me about hirs playing, so i was like, okay, fuck yeah, i need to go. hirs is like thrash/dance-party/violently pro femme and trans n it was a lot of fun. they played with the screaming females who just dont scream enough and arent angry enough for me. Z went with me to a show which was a christmas miracle. Oh, before the show, we went to cvs and got a bunch of clearance easter candy. Between drinking and candy, i wasnt good to my diet. But i hadn't had a day where I felt like I Had a fun time in a long time, sooooooo i guess it doesnt matter.
Sunday Z and I went on a hike at reimers ranch and then went to family business brewing company. i guess its owned by some famous dude. the beers were all solid. And then we met Rachel (from lj!) and her bf at oddwood ales. Seeing rachel was cool cuz I hadnt seen her since obamas inauguration. we drank a bit, and came back to the house and drank some more. we opened up the pumpkinators since they like pumpkin beers. despite having gone on a hike, i wasn't good on my diet again, but whatever, i needed a fun weekend.
That about catches me up. We're still trying to balance things with Blue. He isn't too bright and can't figure out covered litter boxes. We have those igloo types, and he peed on the stairs instead of the sand part. And we just have 1 open one for him, but if its far away, he's not opposed to just peeing on the rug. :( So, I will probably get another open litter box for him tomorrow and oh my god i will have 2 cats and 4 fucking litter boxes. spoiled brats.
I felt really stressed all week with the new cat, and worrying about how Skittles is taking it, but I'm finally mellowing out a bit. I've also cleaned the house, and my head feels more sorted when my space is more sorted. I think things'll be okay, especially as we learn more about Blue and what he's like, and what he likes/dislikes.
i deffo recommend my instagram if yall wanna see Blue pics. He's so cute despite the adjustments.
thats it. cya.
