Fermat's Enigma by Simon Singh - We talk about the history of mathematics, pythagoras and achemedies. lost a lot of math in the loss of alexandra and the sacking of constantinople. Then Fermat comes across some old math books and, this guy isnt a professional, but makes a ton of theorems. but fermat never shows his work (math teachers hate him!). all of his theorems have proofs now, its just this "fermats theorem" that doesnt have a proof centuries later. some people make some progress on it, but a mathematician proves its impossible and it has no movement for a long time. then a century later, another mathematician proves the person who said it was impossible had a flaw in their logic, so people are trying to figure it out again. someone offers the equivalent of a million dollars if they can prove it (and 0$ if they can prove its unsolvable lol)
