Beloved by Toni Morrison (Author) - This book is really fucked up, and I have no clue how any school allows this to be read together in class? I... ghost pre-teen gets violated but is it violation if its a trauma ghost haunting everyone and making them miserable? i dont really have the spoons to unpack this because underage shit makes me sick.

its still probably an important read, and its still a good analogy on trauma, but ... wow. and yikes?

Yeah, that might be one for a bit older? I think I'd struggle navigating it in the class. But then I'm letting them choose their own books because a lot of my kids have gone through trauma and they don't necessarily need to experience extra trauma in English class.
