Finishing up the comics before i start june's book club book.
What have you finished reading?
Invisible Kingdom Volume 1 by G. Willow Wilson (Author), Christian Ward (Illustrator) - Nothing really more to say on this one. I feel like hopefully as it goes on, it may have more to say? idk.
Hardears by Nigel Lynch (Author), Matthew Clarke (Creator) - This is a graphic novel based on afro-carribean lore. and the art is great. but it starts heavy on the lore (literally with a dictionary/bestiary) and ends with a more in depth dive into what htey were getting at. I sort of wish they had put this articile in the front, and the lore in the back. But this was good, not great. But it wasnt bad. And I'm here to support Black creators sharing their experiences in new and unique ways
After the Rain by John Jennings (Adapter), Nnedi Okorafor (Author), David Brame (Illustrator) - This comic is perfect. This may be the best graphic novel i have read this year. Phenomenal art. Its an adaptation of a horror story that uses nigerian folklore. Its positively terrifying and i couldnt put it down.
What are you currently reading?
TUKI: Fight for Fire by Jeff Smith (Author, Illustrator) - The guy who did Bone is back with protohumans. I haven't gotten very far yet. The art is amazing, as per usual.
