What have you finished reading?:

The Black Monday Murders Volume 2 by Jonathan Hickman (Author), Tomm Coker (Artist) - The whole time there is a private investigator looking into the evils the banks are pulling off. unfortunately even he cant resist the call of mammon and wants in on the evil. kind of disappointing. i guess greed can effect anyone.

Extremity Volume 2: Warrior by Daniel Warren Johnson (Author, Artist) - I had read the first trade and it was really gripping me. the conclusion is good but not as good as the first. but had a lot of cool action. the sibliings discover a village comprised of both tribes just wanting peace. So theyre on a quest for peace and to try to convince their father to stop being terrible. It was a satisfying ending.

Cucumber Quest: The Melody Kingdom by Gigi D.G. (Author) - This adorable kids book has my favorite volume yet! The melody kingdom is really fleshed out and my god the art is so beautiful here. The color choices for my favorite villian, the noise master, is so good! Its still, you know, kiddy, but I am really liking it. I got the recommendation from my friends daughter, lol, and I think it was a good one.

Gideon Falls Volume 3: Stations of the Cross by Jeff Lemire (Author), Andrea Sorrentino (Artist), Dave Stewart (Artist) - This is a really cool horror comic that is really starting to ramp up into some deep horror shit. Basically its a murder monster (?) that is murdering folks in the past, present, and future. some people find out they can go through time too and are trying to either figure it out or stop it.

Guts by Raina Telgemeier (Author, Illustrator) - Another YA novel about a girl and the link between her anxiety and her tummy troubles. It was honestly really approachable for a younger audience for honestly kind of hefty subject matter. Raina is so anxious over possibly puking that she becomes really neurotic about the things she'll allow herself to eat. and any time she gets nervous she has tummy troubles. Apparently even as an adult she has these struggles, which theyve linked to IBS but thats it. It was pretty interesting for a younger YA book.

Centipede by Max Bemis (Author), Eoin Marron (Artist) - Yes, This is based off the Atari game. Uh, the last man on earth is standing off with an evil centipede. hes gay? he has issues with his dad? This is a weird one. I bought it on a recommendation from the comic book shop and uhhhhh i think it was trying to say something at the end but I couldnt quite figure out what? Whatever?

Middlewest Book One by Skottie Young (Author), Jorge Corona (Artist), Mike Huddleston (Artist) - okay so sort of wish this book came with a content warning. the comic starts with the main character getting verbally and physically abused by his dad. then he runs away and hes in a magical world, but im p sure its just him using his imagination as a coping mechanism? the more upset he is, this weird heart scar on him grows. the same with his dad. The kid runs away and joins a carnival which makes sense tbh

What are you currently reading?

Bingo Love by Tee Franklin - I was hoping to finish this before vacation but oh well. This is a love story between two girls growing up. Their parents freak out and they are forced to never see each other again. Well 50 years later they meet at bingo. It’s a sweet love story but a little improbable and a lot of convenient turns for the sake of the plot. Still I don’t mind a sweet gay love story.

One more thing: stories and other stories by BJ Novak - this is a collection of short stories that we’ve read aloud while Z is driving. We’re about a quarter of the way through. This is written by the guy who does the office I guess? It’s very funny. My favorite one thus far has been the one about John Grisham.

A Dance with Dragons by George R R Martin - I wanted a big book to take on vacation so here I am. Just slowly making my way through these books since it seems the winds of winter will never come out anyway. The plot is mostly the same as the show. Rn tyrion is drunk, Jon is brooding, and Dany is conquering foreign lands.

Today we went out to fisher towers outside of Moab. We’re back in Utah now. Anyway we started our hike with a wrong turn and I kept saying we should go back and look for the real way down while Z was sort of blazing his own path into the ravine. It became heated at times.m but we did eventually find out way back to the real path and up to these majestic red tower things. It was like 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) today so it was basically my threshold of cold hiking. The wind was biting at different parts of the canyon bends. But we made it back ok.

I thought today was gonna be chill but it was not but that’s okay. Tomorrow we’re going into arches and will stick to shorter hikes and then my ankles can rest.

It’s hard going from basically sedentary to hiking several miles every day lol

I’m surprised I’ve been posting so much but it’s easier to write when yanno stuff keeps happening. Also my evenings have a lot of downtime.
