What have you finished reading?
Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds by Adrienne Maree Brown - Hey! I finished it! After the chapter Vii caught up on, the rest is supplemental stuff. I felt like the book got p disjointed by the end, but I also think thats the point. I'm not in a group so i can't apply this to, like, organizing. but it was still a good read and useful for those who do.
The Many Deaths of Laila Starr by Ram V (Author), Filipe Andrade (Illustrator) - My ex actually recommended this one to me, and its absolutely beautiful story about death and life and living. I thought it might make me cry, but it didn't. but it was really good. Top tier comic, this one.
What are you currently reading?
Be Not Afraid of My Body: A Lyrical Memoir by Darius Stewart (Author) - More memoir than lyrical, but beautiful and poetic about a gay Black man. Thus far it has talked about his childhood and now it is on to college. Happy Black History Month!
also! Random. Idk if yall have heard of Readers for Accountability, but its about racism in St Martins press. Theyre asking folks to not promote their books on social media. i had wondered if we felt this included us in our weird little blogosphere on dreamwidth. I thought I'd include it here if folks are curious. Seems like most of their organizing is on Instagram and Tik Tok. Since i dont have TikTok, ill just post the ig link here.
