What have you finished reading?

The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera (Author) - Heartbreaking yet simple. And the prose caught me just sitting with this book often. Good choice for a divorce read, especially because of all the infidelity.

Saga Volume 11 by Brian K Vaughan (Author), Fiona Staples (Artist) - Maybe this is scandalous, but I'm starting to feel like Saga is just going to drag out forever. Its really good, well paced, amazing story, amazing art. But also am I going to have to purchase another 10 trades to know how the story will end?



What are you currently reading?

Monstress Volume 8 by Marjorie Liu (Author), Sana Takeda (Illustrator) - The story and lore has gotten so convoluted that I can't even keep track anymore. But I can follow enough that I'm not going to drop this series yet. Its too pretty and the major plot beats I can kind of follow.

Sprint: How to Solve Big Problems and Test New Ideas in Just Five Days by Jake Knapp - No progress this week.

What genres do you err toward? I've not heard any of these authors before, I'm intrigued!

When it comes to comics, I'll read almost anything indie. Brian K Vaughn is super popular and prolific. Maybe you've seen his stuff around?

Books wise, I skew toward fiction. That boring work book (Sprint) is a book for work lol. I also read a lot of poetry and attempt to write it on occasion too.

I think the best thing Vaughan has written is a comic called "Paper Girls".

Vonnegut is my favorite fiction author. Cuz I'mma stereotype

And Tommy pico is my favorite poet.

Saga feels like a comics version of How I Met Your Mother, in that the framing device ruins immersion for me. (I think. My memory of Saga is that it's being related by their now-adult child sometime in the future, that might be wrong.)

Monstress is so gorgeous but I really had a tough time understanding what was going on just in the one anthology/volume I read.

New here and immediately coming in with the flaming hot takes I guess, lolol

I didn't mind Saga being narrated by a child from the future. Although it also constantly makes me question how reliable the narrator is.

Monstress has gotten really confusing for me starting around maybe... the 4th trade. Yet here I remain because theres bits and pieces I can still follow.

Something in me can't sustain that level of... tension...? for that long, like it just feels like prologue to the "real" story and I want to hurry up and get *there*. Definitely a Me Problem though, rather than an actual/objective flaw.
