What have you finished reading:

Sixty Degrees North: Around the World in Search of Home by Malachy Tallack - Well we made it around the 60th N line and i still don't know what this book was. Who paid for the memoir/travel blog? I thought it would hit me with some dead dad feels but i got none. oh well.

What are you currently reading:

The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman - Yeah, I'm reading atheist Narnia. Im not too far in yet. I've been introduced to Lyra and they're doing some world building right now. I think I'll like it.

Yeah, so basically the book is part travel memoir, part history, and part sort of misguided sad ramblings. I don't quite understand what it wants to be. Sometimes it felt like I had stumbled on someones blog.

I know he goes on this journey after his father dies and he feels a connection to the north, but i feel like the dad stuff could have used an editor. it would have increased the emotional weight.

For the size of the book, its not bad. I just dont know what this book wants to be in the end.

Yeah I picked it up from half price books thinking I'd really enjoy it, but it just sort of fell flat. It still isn't terrible, and its only ~200 pages, so it doesnt take too much time
