1. What is your favourite book and/or book series of all time?
This survey started off with the hardest question and tbh it turned me off from doing it.

Sitting on this, I've decided to stop dreading the question, and pick a book i'm overly sentimental about: Matilda by Roald Dahl carried me through a really shitty childhood and it is a flawless book.

2. What is the longest book you have ever read? How many pages?
I've read the entire bible a few times, which is probably the biggest, really. Although its also technically a collection of smaller books. I read Imagica at a whopping 824 pages, that might be the biggest work of fiction I've ever read.

3. What is the oldest book you have ever read? (Based on its written date)
I think the bible gets to be in this slot again. I've read some of the islandic sagas. Actually the Odyssey by homer is older. Yeah, older than beowulf too.

4. What is a book series that everyone else loves but you do not?
not a series, but oh my god I hate Ready Player One. Its the worst prose I've ever read, and I'm totally fine with mid-grade prose. its the ultimately "fun concept but this book SUCKS" book.

5. What book or book series would you like to see turned into a film/TV series?
I think there's a few comic series that might make a good movie/show but I feel like more often than not it gets screwed up. Like Brian K Vaughns comics all could get the treatment and be successful. I'd love to see Saga as a scifi show, but it'd be hard to pull off.

6. What is your favourite stand-alone book?
Yeah, thats the same as question one. So I'll answer the opposite, which is my favorite series. And honestly I think it is A Series of Unfortunate Events. Not a lot of adult fiction is a series-series, you know? Wait I suppose comics count, and wow picking a favorite comic is hard! Why am I forced to pick favorites!!!

7. What is a book that you feel glad for not reading?
like just books out there that I know I'll never read? Uh, i guess nazi propaganda? those ann coulter books? idek? this is a weird question tbh.

8. What is a book that you feel guilty for not not reading?
There's a lot of classics I haven't read, still. I wouldn't say its necessarily "guilt" but I do feel like I aught to. Like I've never read Of Mice and Men or the Scarlet Letter

9. What is a book you have read that is set in your country of birth?
I'm in the US, so thats, like, the majority of the books I read tbh. Like I recently read to kill a mocking bird. thats v american in more ways than one.

10. What is a book that you own more than one copy of?
I have two different translations of The Little Prince

11. What horror book made you really scared?
House of Leaves easily is the scariest book I've ever read. Its such a good book.

12. What book do you passionately hate?
aaahahaha Ready Player One. I HATE IT SO MUCH!!!

13. What is the biggest book series you have read? How many books are in it?
Realistically its probably Goosebumps. I'd get a new one from the book faire every month or whatever. There were 40 something when I was a kid, excluding all the spin offs.

14. What book gives you happy memories?
I feel like a lot of them do? I asked for copies of peoples favorite books at my wedding and thats been nice/fun. I read a book called the adventures of TS Spivet when I started dating Z.

15. What book made you cry?
It doesn't take much to make me cry but Everything is Illuminated devastated me.

16. What book made you laugh?
The last one that stands out to me is the princess bride.

17. What is your favourite book that contains an LGBTQ+ character?
Oh man, there's a lot, because I like reading gay stuff. Because I'm gay. I really love Lumberjanes, so I'm going to go with that.

18. Have you read a book with a male protagonist? What is it?
oh my god, what book DOESNT have a male protagonist. the last 2 books ive read have male protagonists

19. Have you read a book set on another planet? What is it?
I read a lot of sci fi. Perelandra comes to mind. Did you know CS Lewis wrote a sci fi trilogy? Its not half bad.

20. Have you ever been glad to not finish a series? Which?
Manifest Destiny is a comic that I dropped, and I'm glad to be done with it. It wasn't awful and had some interesting concepts, but felt like I was paying for a kids show with a 'monster of the day'.

21. Have you ever read a book series because you were pressured?
A lot of pop lit. I didnt ever want to read harry potter, but I'm glad I did. It wasn't as bad as i thought it was, and im glad i'm not an elitist (much) anymore.

22. What famous author have you not read any books by?
Oscar Wilde! IM A BAD QUEER!!!! (its not intentional! I dont know where to start!)

23. Who is your favourite author of all time?
Vonnegut probably

24. How many bookshelves do you own?
so 3 tall book shelves and 3 wide bookshelves. theres multiple shelves on them. is this a trick question?

25. How many books do you own?
Id say probably 400 book-books and 200 comic books.

26. What is your favourite non-fiction book?
Growing up I had a book on the monarch migration called the travels of Monarch X and I still like that book.

27. What is your favourite children’s/middle-grade book?
I think I've mentioned a lot of them here at this point. I liked a lot of Roald Dahl and I still do.

28. What is your next book on your TBR?
Black Science, a comic. I have the 2nd and 3rd trades up next.

29. What book are you currently reading?
The Black Monday Murders, a surprisingly anti-capitalist comic.

30. What book are you planning on buying next?
I have enough books that i wouldnt need to buy any for years if im lucky. But I have a bunch of tank girl comics in my shopping cart sooooooo

31. What was the cheapest book you bought?
I'm sure there's plenty I've gotten for free, from the Free little libraries around the city. Z and I like checking them out, but they also are one of the reasons the to-read pile is insurmountable.

32. What was the most expensive book you bought?
Any book for college, god. i blew thru the money my family saved for me for college (600 dollars) in only text books my first year :(

33. What is a book you read after seeing the movie/ TV series?
GoT. I actually tried the book before the show, but there were so many characters, I gave up about 100 pages in. After watching the show, I had a better idea of who everyone was and enjoyed the books much more.

34. What is the newest book you have bought?
I went to OKC and bought a bunch of comics, as well as a few books. I believe thats the most recent books I paid for. My in-laws gave me some books about a week ago though too.

35. What three books are you most looking forward to reading this year?
I just sort of read stuff as I want to. I finally got the sailor moon manga, so I'm excited to read that.

36. What is a book you love that has a terrible trope? (Love triangle, etc)
I think a lot of books do when you hold a magnifying glass to them. There's nothing new under the sun. One of the comics I recently read, Chiggers, had a love triangle lol

37. Have you read a book in a different language? What was it?
childrens books in spanish, but thats about it. I can't remember any of their titles.

38. What is a book you’ve read that is set in a time period before you were born?
So many now that I think of it? The adventures of kavalier and clay takes place in the 1950s. that book is really good.

39. What book offended you?
Thankfully i dont read any, like, terfs or anything like that. ive read a lot of holy books, and theyre kind of offensive, but only because im still going through my angry atheist phase? lol

40. What is the weirdest book you have read?
Only revolutions, by the same guy who did house of leaves.

41. What is your favourite duology?
Can I say My Favorite Thing is Monsters, even if the second book hasn't come out yet? I know I'll like it no matter how it ends lol

42. What is your favourite trilogy?
I sat on this one for a while, but CS Lewis' space trilogy (again) is probably my favorite.

43. What book did you buy because of its cover?
Wizzywig, which was not a good buy :\

44. What is a book that you love, but has a terrible cover?
My copy of east of eden has a cover that is tattered and falling off. Still a pretty good book

45. Do you own a poetry anthology? What is your favourite poem from it?
Here's the scoop, I'm just a little too literal to understand poetry very often. The only poetry I willingly read is by muslim mystics (specifically Rumi and Hafiz). That said, someone once gave me a love poem by lord byron which was very sweet and stuck with me.

46. Do you own any colouring books based off other books?
I have a packers coloring book I got as a joke for xmas one year.

47. Do you own any historical fiction?
Ok, what makes fiction historical? Is Dickens historical fiction? Can all fiction be historical if it 1) takes place in the past and 2) isnt fantastical?

48. What book made you angry?
The Fountainhead. Because that just isnt how people are.

49. What book has inspired you?
After dropping out of bible college, I read "An Open Heart" by the dalai lama and it was what I needed at the time.

50. What book got you into reading?
I grew up around a lot of books. My mom worked at a book factory that published the little golden books, so we'd get lots of books that were beat up or bound incorrectly (I never batted an eye at reading right to left lol). I can't ever think of a time when I wasn't interested in reading. The first book I ever read was a book my dad would always read to me before bed, a little golden book of the Cinderella disney movie.

I love that you asked your wedding guests to bring their favorite books - that's such a cool idea! My brother and sister-in-law did something similar a few years ago and asked everyone to bring books to their baby shower. I sent a favorite from our childhood and its sequel; my brother started reciting one of the poems as soon as he saw the cover!
