Hey hey. Sorry I've been back since Sunday night but I haven't really had a moment to myself till now.
So after that stupid rental car fiasco on Sunday, we went to two breweries. The first one we had had a beer from and it was /okay/ which is about all I could hope for in Utah so we decided to check the brewery out. It was fine. I got crispy french toast that, I guess, just sounded better than it was. Then we went to squatters and watched the first half of the Packers game.
Thinking the game would go late, we decided it'd be easier to leave at half time and get to the airport early. It sort of worked. But honestly the game was done early enough that we could have left /after/ the game. Like, SLC's airport is p small and security was a breeze. Oh well. it was hard to know. We also watched the first half of the Cowboys game, and got to watch the second half IN THE AIR. Like, I love flying to begin with (I am like barely over 5 foot so that helps), but it was p cool to, like, be watching live football in a plane.
But yeah, basically, its been nice to be home. We got home late and talked to Skylar (he was the one house sitting) and talked about the cats and stuff and like what happened while we were gone.
The next day we got REAL tacos (praise science), went to REI (i bought a flannel and needed another pair of hiking socks), got Skylar a new cap for his water bottle, got Skylar some tobacco, and went to the comic book shop. It was a good day. And I'm glad I took the day after I got back off. I also got a bunch of laundry done.
Oh and
I gained just a bunch of weight on vacation. I dont regret it, per se, this usually happens when I dont monitor my food intake, but, like, i keep saying 'no diet, just life changes, just count calories' but fucking FUCK it. I've tried that all year and its not really working. I am going on a diet till my clothes fit the way I'd like, and then i'll go back to, yanno, generally eating right. i feel bad, because i feel like diets are generally, like, disordered eating? but it also works? idek. fuck it. i cant consider everything/everyone. just do what works for me. And take a fucking multivitamin again.
On the way to the gym today I saw an owl in the middle of the road. They were just sitting there. I sort of honked and then it flew off. I dont know if it was injured or not, but I felt bad. I hope its all right. On the way home from the gym I was obsessing over if I was forgetting my water bottle (which I do often) and instead I FORGOT MY FREAKING PHONE. Ugh.
I'm looking into building a new computer. I keep using my work computer because my home computer crashes, cant handle streaming video, its just OLD OLD OLD!! But building a new one has been daunting as hell. But PC part picker (new site to me) has made it real easy. This is what I'm thinking of, although idk why ppl are into solid state drives these days. lmk what you think if you're into hardware. I used to be but now it, like, is kind of beyond me. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Tvx3tp
Also, good news on the Z brewery job front- it sounds like he'll move into cellaring and stuff starting the transition in Dec and then should be full time in January. Woohoo!! we'll get to do more stuff together and have the weekends again.
Ok uh, this has taken a moment to get to, but only because its hard to think about. After I got back from vacation, Skittles looks just really haggard. She's lost some fur although its not due to ring worm. Maybe the new steroid. She also still has diarrhea. She is shitting all over the house now. It used to be, like here or there, or like /near/ the box. but this is full on just... pooping wherever she wants. I know diarrhea won't be her end, but i sure do hate picking up shit multiple times a day.
I am. like. tired? I refuse to put her down just because she is old, obviously. She's still, like, happy and sweet and cuddly. But where is the line too? idk. I don't want to get too morbid here. she peed outside the box once too.
When I first came home she seemed really out of it. But now she seems better. So maybe its not as bad as I worry.
Skylar, who was pet sitting, thinks the diarrhea is linked to the wet food or the supplements in the wet food. So I'm stopping the supplements just to see how that goes. We can also increase the steroids a bit more but I also wondered if she was just shitting anywhere because she's stressed/mad I'm gone? I know I'm grasping at straws here. I was supposed to email the vet a week ago but its just sort of escaped me. I'll do it tomorrow.
Blue didn't even pee on anything he shouldn't have while we were gone. Well, he tried once but was thwarted. Yay!
oh and also my old cat that my old roommates kept (from when I was 19 or 20), Blaster, had a health scare too. I offered to foot half the bill as "child support". I think I may have mentioned this in another entry. Anyway, Blaster's issue is NOT cancer! Its just an infection that can be fixed with antibiotics! Once its fixed, we'll get his teeth cleaned and get any bad teeth out. I'm so glad that sweet baby is gonna be okay!
Ok, I think thats everything. And I got laundry to fold and put up, so I guess I'll ttyl.
