What have you finished reading?

Nothin'

What are you currently reading?

The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead - Cora escapes to North Carolina, where they've made it illegal to even be black in the state. Cora is forced off the railroad, and even though the stop is boarded and there's warning signs to leave, she gets shuffled off with a white man who runs off with her. Cora is kept in an attic for months. Just a tiny fake space where the only amusement she has is a hole to a park where they lynch people every friday for "fun". Cora get found after becoming very ill. Her rescuers/captors are hanged. She is sent off with the slave bounty hunter. the bounty hunter is cruel, but human at times. but will murder someone for any amount of money. She travels with them toward missouri before going back to georia, but in tennisee, she is rescued by some free men.

This book is really heavy, and a lot of torture porn. but its beautifully written. i'm really gunning for a happy ending here.

Its been an okay week. Lets recap.

Friday I went out to see Z at the brewery after I got off work. Marvis was there. I don't know him super well, other than that he's very nice, so it was nice to hang out and drink some beers. We sad inside the brewery, again, because the patio was full of real customers. but we were able to sit apart and it does at least have okay ventilation. but I'm always a little nervous. I'd really prefer if we were able to sit outside.

Saturday the gay shop was doing an outdoor movie night with little squares all spaced apart. It was a movie called "boys in the band". They needed help so I helped pass out beers. It was all outside so I don't feel particularly concerned. It was nice to talk to people and do something, although I think K and J were fighting, so having to do this big to-do while dealing with that was hard.

Sunday Perry had come back from a trip to georgia with a whole bunch of beers he wanted to open up with us. But my football game was also playing, so, again, with in the brewery. Again, I don't feel like its the worst place, its large, it has good air flow, but I always feel nervous. Again, I'd prefer being outside, but I also wanted to watch the game.

Happy the Packers are 3-0 though. Although nervous, as some players in Tennessee have tested positive. It'll be interesting how the NFL handles this, as they handle a lot of shit poorly. Still, I am enjoying my distraction.

I'm, still, playing a lot of animal crossing and pokemon go in my spare time. I'm really pumped about the Animal Crossing fall update. I actually caught the last two Southern Hemisphere animals I need last night, so I'm extra pumped. I'm about to have all the aquarium in the museum done. Still waiting on one more bug in December. I'm glad to have animal crossing to play obsessively. It helps me feel less lonely, and I'm in a small group of great people that play together a lot.

Today I went to get my eye exam. My prescription was tweaked a little. Hopefully its minor and it doesnt give me a migraine. Additionally, the blood vessels in my eyes, apparently, look kind of concerning. The doctor is worried there may be some blood clotting, and she wants to check my eyes again in 3 months. Its a little spooky, but if it can wait 3 months, hopefully its just minor. If it looks bad or worse then, I may have to go to the doctor.

I did pick out new glasses, though, and they look great. I dont really like the clear plastic frames, but these, somehow, just really work for me. I'm super pumped to get them in a few weeks.

Afterwards I got an early supper at a poke place.

This weekend we are going to Dallas. Z made this plan to see his pals. His pals are doing the best they can, but one is a teacher... so she could have been exposed at some point and not know it. We're all just monitoring our temperatures, but I cannot believe they are letting us stay with them? I even told Z we probably just should have gotten an airbnb and met them for outside stuff. But, I guess we'll just see how this goes. We still have differing levels of risk aversion, but I'm okay with this to an extent. at least it isn't like how it was before where he wanted to fly out to oregon or whatever.

anyway, things regarding covid are still trending downwards here in austin, possibly because even though we're all still doing things, we're at least wearing masks and maintaining distance? i hope so anyway. after a shaking universities opening, its been good. but i dont think opening schools with, like, kids is going to go as smoothly...

ttyl, anyway.
