Oct. 7th, 2020 09:52 amWhat have you finished reading?
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead - Cora joins another farm, this time owned by a light skinned black man. He uses his privilege to buy land for himself and other black men. They have a large community growing, but the whites around them are growing weary. Cora has PTSD. Eventually the farm is raided and, again Cora loses everything. The farm's raid is lead by the slave bounty hunter. He catches Cora, but Cora murders him, and escapes further north via the railroad.
This book is so beautiful but so fucking sad. I just wanted her to be happy. But maybe because that was the lie fed to me too as a kid. Obviously this story is fiction, the underground railroad wasnt a real railroad. But Blacks escpaed to the North and then they were happy. the end. But it wasn't like that. It was never like that.
One Million Tiny Fires by Ashley Robin Franklin (Author) - A sort of sci fi/horror/romance. Its a short comic. Two lesbians are living in rural texas and it doesn't seem to be going well. But then something from the sky falls and things start to change.
Sobek by James Stokoe - Egyptian crocodile god sets out to kick some ass. The art is absolutely gorgeous.
What are you currently reading?
Daygloayhole Quarterly #3 by Ben Passmore (Author) - this is short, but I fell asleep reading it anyway. Just a short surreal comic set in a postapocalypitic wasteland. some guy is chasing porn. nonbinary hero nolimitz is killing cops.
